Don’t Skip Breakfast

Skipping breakfast is bad, and we all know that; especially if you’re a teenager. You skip the most important meal of the day, and you are more likely to be obese. It is said that this maybe be one of the causes of rising obesity in young people.

A study was conducted, and it was about following the breakfast habits of teenagers. Those who skipped the meal became five pounds heavier on average, and they also ate less healthily during the day, not to mention exercised less.

The obesity rate for adolescents has tripled over the past 20 years.

Vitamin D in Your Skin

Researchers have found that the production of previtamin D3 in your skin varies depending on several factors, which include skin type, weather conditions, and sunscreen use. During the winter at latitudes above 35 degrees, there is minimal previtamin D3 production in the skin. Darker skin pigmentation, application of sunscreen, aging and clothing can also have a dramatic effect on previtamin D3 production. However, at the other end of the scale, excessive exposure to sunlight does not result in vitamin D overdose, because previtamin D3 and vitamin D3 are photolyzed to biologically inert chemicals before they can build up to dangerous levels.

Wonder what his mob nickname is…

A court in Sicily has ruled that an accused Mafioso can be put under house arrest because he is too fat for any Italian jail.

Salvatore Ferranti, who weighs 462 pounds, was allowed to go home after spending six months in four Italian prisons, his lawyer told Reuters, confirming a local newspaper report.

Guards at the first two prisons said they constantly needed to help Ferranti, 36, get dressed and undressed, move about and go to the bathroom.

Guards at other prisons said there was no bed big enough for him, that he could not get through the bathroom door, and that they would be at a loss if he had to be taken to a hospital in an emergency.

Ferranti was accused of being a member of the Mafia clan once headed by Salvatore Lo Piccolo, the “boss of bosses” arrested last November.

Lawyer Raffaele Bonsignore filed a motion with a court in Palermo to release him under house arrest because he suffered from “grave obesity,” calling it “a pathology incompatible with prison.”

17 Ways to Create the Perfect Workday

1. Do Less. Learn to reduce the amount you do — perhaps you could choose three important things to achieve each day, the ones that will have the most impact on your life.

2. Start the day with a relaxing shower or bath. This will get you in a relaxed mood, which is much better than starting the day stressed out.

3. Get in some morning exercise. It will relax you, and gives you a sense of well-being and accomplishment.

4. Create a clutter-free environment. Clutter-free surroundings create a peaceful working environment.

5. Turn off the distractions. This includes phones, email notification, instant messaging, anything that will break into your focus.

6. Take breaks and stretch. Get up, stretch, massage your shoulders, neck and head; it will keep you relaxed throughout the day.

7. Roll with the punches. There will always be things that go wrong. When things get overwhelming, take a step back to get some perspective.

8. Work when it’s quiet. This may be early in the morning, during your office lunch hour, or late at night — choose whatever works for you so that you can get some solid work in without distractions.

9. Cut back on your commitments. Choose four to five things that are absolutely essential, and then eliminate the rest over time.

10. Focus on the present. Rather than worrying about what you have to do in the future, or reliving things that happened in the past, focus on what you’re doing right now.

Honey beeIt is said that Haagen-Dazs warned that the disappearing bee colonies in the United States will affect the ice cream supply, which depends on pollination from bees.

Bees are responsible for 24 of its 60 flavors, which includes banana split, strawberry and toasted pecan. Haagen Dazs is donating $250,000 to two universities to fund research into the bee colony collapse disorder and are also trying to raise consumer awareness of the problem by launching a new flavor called Vanilla Honey Bee. They plan to use part of the sales from this flavor help the honeybees.
